Amazon's Q1 Sales Forecast Falls Short of Market Expectations

Amazon reported net sales for the fourth quarter of 2024, growing 10% year-over-year to $187.79 billion, surpassing market projections. Notably, AWS net sales rose 19% year-over-year to $28.79 billion, albeit slightly under analysts' expectations. Earnings per share came in at $1.86, exceeding estimates. Operating profit surged 61% year-over-year to $21.2 billion, also topping expectations. Despite these strong results, Amazon's projection for the first quarter of 2025 forecasts net sales to be in the range of $151 billion to $155.5 billion, falling short of market anticipations. Similarly, the projected operating profit, estimated to be between $14 billion and $18 billion, is also below expectations.
