Goldman Sachs has raised its 2030 forecast for global data center capacity to 273GW, up from roughly 103GW in 2025—a compound annual growth rate of about 21%. Over the next five years, an estimated 170GW of additional capacity is expected to come online, implying potential capital expenditure of roughly $8.5 trillion. Within that total, the bank has lifted its 2030 U.S. capacity forecast to 152GW, with 103GW of cumulative additions after 2025—about 60% of global new capacity over the same period. One key reason for the upward revision to the U.S. forecast is the rapid buildout by new cloud service providers such as Neocloud to meet GPU demand.
