On November 3, people familiar with the matter said Meta Platforms is weighing an issuance of at least $20 billion in investment-grade bonds sold across borders, with plans to tap both the dollar and euro bond markets simultaneously. The final size has yet to be determined and could expand depending on investor demand. Meta has mandated Citi and Morgan Stanley to arrange investor conference calls. The dollar-denominated bonds are expected to carry maturities of 5 to 30 years, while the euro-denominated bonds are expected to range from about 4 to 38 years. This marks Meta's first large-scale bond issuance in six months and its first-ever sale of euro-denominated bonds. Tech giants continue to borrow to finance data centers and chip procurement. As market concerns grow over the returns on AI investments, demand for related bonds has cooled, and investors are demanding higher yields. Meta has previously issued $25 billion in common stock and $12.5 billion in preferred stock, and plans to raise up to $60 billion through at-the-market equity offering programs.
