Over the past weekend, Nscale, a provider of computational power leasing services and a next-generation cloud service provider, disclosed that Microsoft had terminated its collaboration on a data center project currently underway near London. The reason cited was that the site was not anticipated to be linked to the power grid for several more years. Microsoft's decision has sparked market concerns regarding the potential risks associated with the global construction of AI infrastructure. In reaction to these concerns, both Nscale and Microsoft have made efforts to dispel market uncertainties. A spokesperson from Nscale emphasized that the company remains steadfast in its commitment to progressing with the Loughton project and expanding its footprint in the UK. Currently, Nscale is actively exploring alternative power sources for the project. Similarly, a representative from Microsoft reiterated that the partnership between the two entities remains strong and that this decision is specific to this particular project only. Initially, Nscale had ambitions to secure over $3 billion in funding through an initial public offering (IPO), aiming for a valuation of $30 billion. The IPO plan is still progressing as scheduled.
