On October 19, in response to the ongoing discussions claiming that "over half of domestic computing power is dedicated to producing addictive dramas," Liu Xing, the Head of Public Relations at Doubao, refuted the data as "inaccurate." He disclosed that ByteDance allocates only approximately 10% of its total computing power to the training and inference processes of video generation models. Earlier, COL had revealed in its "Investor Relations Activity Record" that, among domestic AI Token consumption, 55% is earmarked for short dramas and video generation, 24% for e-commerce advertising, while a mere 15% is genuinely invested in research and development. COL further highlighted that Token consumption for AI-driven short dramas and video generation has significantly outpaced software development, emerging as the primary use case for Token expenditure.
