According to Investing, Microsoft has pulled out of its data center joint project with Nscale, a UK-based provider of AI infrastructure services, located in Loughton, Essex, and has terminated the associated agreement. Microsoft was one of Nscale’s two primary customers, and its departure has prompted the market to closely examine Nscale’s plans for an initial public offering (IPO). The report did not detail the precise cause of Microsoft’s withdrawal, but it is known that the project had already faced several delays. Furthermore, the UK’s National Grid has informed Nscale that the data center’s power supply is not anticipated to be available until the 2030s. A spokesperson for Nscale emphasized that the company’s partnership with Microsoft remains robust and that the issue arose due to an inadequate power grid supply in the London area, which does not impact other contracts. The company is continuing to move forward with the Loughton project and is exploring alternative power solutions as well as additional sites for expansion within the UK.
