On October 19, 2026, the "Polar" vessel, participating in the 16th Chinese Arctic expedition, successfully completed a quasi-operational application test of domestic satellite internet along the Arctic route. This marks a historic milestone, as it achieved, for the first time, networked communication verification across three of the most challenging regions on Earth: the Arctic, Antarctic, and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. This breakthrough effectively eliminates the "last blind spots" in global communication networks. The successful test not only validated the remarkable stability and adaptability of domestic satellite internet technology in diverse and extreme environments but also, for the first time, facilitated remote online medical support services in polar regions, opening up new possibilities for healthcare delivery in remote areas.
