Microsoft has announced that its watermark protection feature for the commercial version of the Edge browser will be fully rolled out in December 2026. This feature enhances compliance management by overlaying persistent watermarks on sensitive content, reminding users to maintain information confidentiality. The watermarks include usernames, timestamps, and warning text such as 'Confidential—No Sharing,' which users cannot delete or modify. IT administrators need to enable this feature through the Edge management service portal and hold a Microsoft 365 E5 or E3 license. The watermark will only take effect when combined with restrictions such as 'No Copying' and 'No Uploading.' Currently, this feature supports multiple scenarios and will be extended to include interfaces like the sidebar and dynamic watermarks in the future.
