Microsoft reminds organizations still using Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 in production environments that the Extended Security Update (ESU) program for these systems will terminate on October 13, 2026, after which Microsoft will no longer provide security updates. Previously, the regular extended support for these two server systems ended on October 10, 2023. The three-year ESU program served merely as a transitional period, primarily offering security updates for issues rated as 'important' or 'critical,' excluding new features, non-security fixes, or design changes.
