According to insiders with knowledge of the situation, Microsoft is contemplating substantial cost reductions within its Azure cloud server business sector. Girish Bablani, the head of the Azure software division, has directed roughly 11,500 executives under his purview to devise strategies aimed at achieving a minimum of 20% in cost savings. At present, it remains unclear whether these cost-cutting initiatives will entail layoffs, and the plan is still in the drafting stage, open to modifications. This particular division focuses mainly on the development of cloud server software and operates independently of the Azure data center team; Microsoft's cloud business as a whole employs around 60,000 individuals.
