On August 28th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology unveiled data indicating that the economic performance of the communications sector remained robust throughout the first seven months of this year. By the end of July, the total count of Internet broadband access ports across the nation had climbed to 1.27 billion, marking an increase of 21.52 million ports compared to the end of the previous year. Notably, the number of fiber-optic access (FTTH/O) ports reached 1.23 billion, up by 19.35 million from the year-end figure, constituting 96.7% of the total. Concurrently, the number of 10GPON ports, which are instrumental in delivering gigabit network services, soared to 33.04 million, representing a growth of 1.417 million from the end of the preceding year. Moreover, the cumulative number of 5G base stations soared to 5.154 million, an uptick of 316,000 from the end of last year, and now accounting for 39.4% of all mobile base stations, a 0.3 percentage point increase from the first half of the year.
