On August 19th, the State Administration for Market Regulation announced that China’s proposed Technical Specification for Microgrid Monitoring and Energy Management Systems in Data Centers had been formally approved by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This marks the world’s first IEC international standard dedicated to computing-power and electricity coordination in data centers, developed through a collaborative effort led by Chinese experts alongside specialists from France, Germany, Spain, and other nations.
The standard fills a critical gap in global guidelines for monitoring and energy management in integrated computing-power and electricity systems. Its implementation is expected to drive the green and low-carbon transformation of the global computing-power industry while advancing the development of digital energy integration.
