OpenAI has announced that it has partnered with SB Energy, NVIDIA, and the U.S. Department of Energy to deploy approximately 8 gigawatts of IT equipment at the PORTS-Pike technology park in Pike County, Ohio. The project is expected to create 35,000 construction jobs and 2,500 long-term operational jobs over the six-year construction period through 2032. Under a 20-year lease agreement between SB Energy and OpenAI, SB Energy will be responsible for the construction, ownership, and operation of the data center, delivering capacity incrementally. OpenAI, as the customer, will utilize the site's capacity, which will be exclusively dedicated to hosting NVIDIA's AI computing infrastructure.
