In a recent investor conference call, SpaceX unveiled its ambitious strategy to construct a terrestrial mobile network. This move signifies its full-fledged foray into the U.S. telecom market, posing a direct threat to the three dominant carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell revealed that the company intends to bolster its existing Starlink satellite internet service by erecting ground-based infrastructure. This will pave the way for a genuine mobile communication service. She envisions that, with its superior service offerings, SpaceX will entice a portion of customers away from the three major carriers. Presently, SpaceX boasts around 10 million Starlink subscribers. Looking ahead, it plans to deploy the next generation of Starlink mobile satellites to further elevate service quality.
