Addressing market skepticism regarding 'excess computing power,' Meta's CEO, Zuckerberg, recently clarified that the company still necessitates substantial computational resources, with its current computing capabilities being fully engaged. Meta is contemplating the possibility of leasing portions of its AI infrastructure, as there is a lucrative external market willing to pay premium prices for computing power. This move, Zuckerberg emphasized, does not imply that Meta's computing resources are underutilized or excessively built. He pointed out that if external bids reach a sufficiently attractive level, renting out computing power could prove more beneficial than keeping it exclusively for internal use. Currently, Meta is exploring different cloud service models, such as offering managed access to AI models and leasing 'raw computing power' as a service.
