On Wednesday, Meta made an announcement stating that it is set to construct a colossal data center in Sturgeon County, Alberta, Canada. This move represents its inaugural foray into establishing a computing power hub in the country. The primary objective is to swiftly augment its computing power reserves, thereby providing robust support for the meteoric rise of the global artificial intelligence sector. The data center will boast an impressive installed capacity of 1 gigawatt, with the entire project requiring a substantial investment of CAD 13 billion (equivalent to roughly USD 9.17 billion).
