CITIC Securities has observed that, amid the exponential surge in AI computing power, standalone data centers in North America are now encountering limitations in terms of power supply and land availability. This situation has spurred a shift in computing power deployment from within-campus to cross-campus and cross-regional Scale Across models. The Scale Across approach is transitioning from its initial validation phase to widespread deployment, and is poised to emerge as a burgeoning, high-growth sector within the optical interconnection field during the AI era. CITIC Securities highlighted that the AI era has set more stringent standards for Data Center Interconnect (DCI), demanding high density, extensive bandwidth, minimal latency, and robust reliability. Consequently, there is a burgeoning demand for high-speed coherent optical modules and high-density optical amplifiers. The industrial value, which was traditionally concentrated among downstream system vendors in the DCI sector, is now shifting towards the mid- and upstream segments. This includes optical modules, optical amplifiers, and core optoelectronic chips. By capitalizing on their well-established manufacturing capabilities and supply chain collaboration strengths, domestic vendors are well-positioned to deeply integrate into the global DCI supply chain.
