Masayoshi Son, the leader of SoftBank Group, is set to invest a staggering 75 billion euros (roughly equivalent to 591.8 billion yuan) in France, with the ambition to construct a colossal computing power hub. This investment initiative was sparked by a conversation between French President Macron and Masayoshi Son during an April dinner in Tokyo. During this meeting, Macron emphasized France's abundant nuclear energy resources and its streamlined process for approving AI facilities.

The project's inaugural phase will see an investment of 45 billion euros, aimed at establishing a computing capacity of 3.1 gigawatts in the Hauts-de-France region by 2031. Subsequently, there are plans to further expand this capacity by an additional 2 gigawatts. Moreover, SoftBank is poised to partner with Schneider Electric to develop an industrial center in Dunkirk. This center will seamlessly integrate AI infrastructure with robotics manufacturing, marking a significant stride in the convergence of technology and industry.
