As reported by Bloomberg, Canada's proposed C-22 bill, known as the Lawful Access Act, which seeks to broaden law enforcement agencies' access to citizens' digital data, has drawn sharp criticism from major tech firms, including Google and Apple. Some companies, such as Signal, have even warned that they may withdraw from the Canadian market altogether. Although the bill has already undergone two rounds of parliamentary deliberation and is currently soliciting public feedback, critics contend that it poses a significant threat to encryption services and violates user privacy rights.
