On May 13, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing informed sources, that Google is currently in talks with Musk's SpaceX concerning a rocket launch agreement, with the objective of launching orbital data centers into space. Furthermore, Google is also delving into possible partnerships with other rocket launch firms. Should a partnership with Google materialize, it would represent Musk's second collaboration with an AI competitor that has openly criticized him. It's worth noting that SpaceX is gearing up for its much-anticipated initial public offering (IPO). Earlier, Anthropic had committed to harnessing the entirety of SpaceX's computational capabilities at the Colossus 1 facility in Memphis and indicated its eagerness to work alongside SpaceX in developing multi-gigawatt space-based orbital data centers.
