TikTok’s $25 Billion Data Center Expansion in Thailand Receives Approval

On May 6 (local time), the Thailand Board of Investment gave the green light to six significant projects, involving a total investment of 958 billion Thai baht (roughly equivalent to $29 billion). Notably, TikTok System (Thailand) Co., Ltd. secured approval to invest approximately 842 billion Thai baht (about $25 billion). This investment will be directed towards the deployment of servers, the expansion of data storage and processing facilities in Bangkok and other strategic locations. Furthermore, TikTok has pledged to develop digital literacy and e-commerce courses aimed at bolstering Thai entrepreneurs and enriching the nation’s pool of digital talent, aligning with local cultural values of fostering education and economic growth.
