Microsoft’s Fairwater AI Data Center Launches Early, Powered by Hundreds of Thousands of GB200 Superchips

Microsoft President and CEO Satya Nadella has announced that the Fairwater AI Data Center, located in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA, has officially commenced operations ahead of schedule. This state-of-the-art facility, representing a $3.3 billion investment, is outfitted with hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 superchips, positioning it as a leading hub for artificial intelligence computing.

Spanning approximately 127.6 hectares, the project encompasses three buildings with a combined floor area of roughly 111,000 square meters. During its construction, the site saw the installation of around 75 kilometers of deep foundation piles and the use of 12,000 tons of structural steel. Additionally, an advanced closed-loop liquid cooling system was implemented to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
