Earlier, three data centers belonging to Amazon Web Services (AWS)—Amazon's cloud computing arm—in the Middle East came under drone attack. Specifically, two facilities in the United Arab Emirates were struck directly, while a third in Bahrain incurred damage from nearby blasts. These attacks sparked fires and caused structural harm, resulting in power outages and subsequent water damage. Initially, Amazon refrained from pinpointing the exact cause of the fires but subsequently acknowledged that they stemmed from military hostilities. This incident disrupted numerous services, including Amazon EC2 and S3, impacting digital operations for customers and financial institutions across the Middle East.
