OpenAI has unveiled that it has secured a substantial new funding round amounting to US$110 billion, marking a significant strengthening of its strategic partnerships with both NVIDIA and Amazon. Notably, its computing power agreement with Amazon has undergone a substantial expansion, escalating from the initial US$38 billion commitment over a seven-year period to an impressive US$100 billion spanning eight years. Furthermore, OpenAI has pledged to harness approximately 2GW of Trainium computing capacity via AWS's robust infrastructure. This encompasses the utilization of Trainium3 chips, as well as the forthcoming Trainium4 chips, which are anticipated to commence delivery in 2027. Sources indicate that the FP4 computing performance of the Trainium4 chips will witness a substantial boost, characterized by expanded memory bandwidth and an augmented video memory capacity.
