They are achieving this by relocating data centers to space orbits and establishing space computing networks, thereby transforming satellites into 'winged computers' endowed with computational prowess. This burgeoning technological framework is designed to tackle the exponential growth in space-based data volumes and the constraints encountered by terrestrial data centers, including high energy consumption and heat dissipation issues. Presently, the global space computing power sector has entered a stage marked by substantial validation and initial rollout. However, the road to commercialization is still fraught with challenges pertaining to technology, cost, and the identification of suitable application scenarios.
