According to reports, electronics manufacturer Kyocera has abandoned the development of 5G wireless base stations due to intensifying market competition, dealing a blow to hopes for domestic production of key mobile infrastructure in Japan. Currently, Huawei, Ericsson, and Nokia together account for nearly 80% of the global 5G base station market share, while Japanese companies like NEC hold less than 2%.
