On November 15, Xiong Jijun, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, held a meeting in Chengdu with Phil Wenblom, the incumbent Chair of the International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission Joint Technical Committee 1 (ISO/IEC JTC 1), along with Laura Lindsay, the Chair-elect, and other leaders from international standardization bodies. During the meeting, both sides engaged in an in - depth exchange of views on fostering global information technology exchanges and enhancing cooperation in standardization.
Xiong Jijun emphasized that China has amassed extensive experience in research, development, and practical application across various information technology domains, including advanced computing, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, unmanned systems, and digital transformation. He stated that China is committed to maintaining a high - standard approach to opening up to the world. The country will actively participate in the work of international standardization organizations and is eager to share its experiences with global partners. By doing so, China aims to facilitate the conversion of its technological advantages into globally recognized standards, thereby contributing more significantly with Chinese expertise to the international standardization of information technology and its industrial application.
Phil Wenblom expressed his gratitude to China for its unwavering support in the international standardization efforts related to information technology. He also voiced his hope that China would further increase its investment in this area and convert more scientific and technological achievements into international standards.
The meeting was attended by representatives from relevant departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Standard Innovation Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation, as well as leaders from affiliated units.
