Market insiders report that Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, in collaboration with tech behemoth Meta and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), has jointly made an announcement. Meta is set to invest a staggering $1 billion in the construction of a sprawling, 500-acre AI-optimized data center campus. This ambitious project will be situated at Alliant Energy's Beaver Dam Business Park.

This development marks Meta's inaugural foray into data center construction in Wisconsin, representing a significant milestone for the state in terms of AI infrastructure advancement. The envisioned facility will boast an impressive footprint of over 700,000 square feet and is striving for LEED Gold certification. Impressively, it will be powered entirely by clean, renewable energy sources, with 100% of its electricity consumption matched by such sustainable options.

During the peak of the construction phase, this project is anticipated to generate over 1,000 highly skilled trade jobs. Following its launch in 2027, it is expected to provide a steady stream of employment, with over 100 operational positions becoming available. Additionally, the project will contribute to the expansion of the local tax base. The project has already secured approval from the City of Beaver Dam, and building permits are currently being issued, paving the way for this transformative endeavor.
