Microsoft has declared that, commencing in February 2026, its Authenticator app will gain the ability to detect jailbroken iOS devices and rooted Android devices that are using Entra credentials for work or school accounts. Consequently, it will bar the utilization of related functions on such devices. Upon identifying a device as jailbroken or rooted, the app will automatically erase the Entra credentials stored on that device, thereby thwarting any attempts to execute related operations. This policy will be progressively rolled out in three phases—warning, blocking, and clearing—spanning from February to April 2026. Additionally, the pertinent support documentation has been concurrently updated.
