On November 3, Amazon Web Services (AWS) unveiled a multi-year strategic alliance with OpenAI, valued at a staggering $38 billion. Under this agreement, AWS is set to promptly offer infrastructure backing to OpenAI. This support encompasses hundreds of thousands of cutting-edge NVIDIA GPUs, with the capacity to scale up to tens of millions of CPUs, all geared towards bolstering its generative AI operations.

Previously, OpenAI was in an exclusive partnership with Microsoft Azure. However, the soaring demand for computing power prompted Microsoft to loosen the cooperation terms. This allowed OpenAI to independently construct infrastructure, primarily aimed at research and model training, while Microsoft maintained the right of first refusal (ROFR).

The new partnership with AWS is poised to significantly amplify OpenAI's research and development prowess in the AI domain.
