Microsoft has made an official announcement stating that, moving forward, Azure App Service for Linux will predominantly utilize Ubuntu as its core operating system, thereby phasing out the current use of Debian. Commencing with upcoming releases like .NET 10, Python 3.14, Node 24, PHP 8.5, and Java 25, Ubuntu will become the bedrock upon which these services are built. Over the next several months, corresponding updates will be incrementally implemented to ensure a smooth transition.
