With the soaring demand for AI storage solutions, SSDs have emerged as the main heat generators in data centers. Solidigm has now introduced the world's inaugural liquid-cooled cold plate heat dissipation server SSD, namely the D7-PS1010 E1.S. This new offering represents an enhancement over its previously released counterpart with the same name and is tailored specifically for fanless servers.
The SSD utilizes single-sided direct-contact chip liquid cooling technology, which is capable of cooling essential components on both sides of the SSD simultaneously. This innovative approach effectively overcomes the limitations associated with hot-swapping and single-sided heat dissipation. The product is well-suited for direct-attached storage (DAS) applications as well as demanding AI workloads.
The E1.S form factor comes in two thickness options: 9.5mm and 15mm, with storage capacities of 3.84TB and 7.68TB respectively. It supports the PCIe 5.0 interface, providing sequential read and write speeds of up to 14.5GB/s and 9.3GB/s, along with random read and write speeds of up to 3.1 million IOPS and 400,000 IOPS. At present, Solidigm is actively collaborating with numerous server manufacturers to facilitate validation and deployment processes.
