At the 2025 Global Data Storage Professor Forum, the winners of the fifth "Olympus Awards" were officially announced. Six top-tier research teams were honored for their technological breakthroughs in the field of data storage. Among them, the team led by Professor Wu Yongwei from Tsinghua University received the highest honor for their "Trading Storage for Computation" technology. Established by Huawei in 2019, the "Olympus Awards" aim to encourage foundational research in data storage. In 2024, the awards included two Olympus Awards and five Pioneer Awards, with winners receiving not only cash prizes but also research support. The fifth edition of the awards focused on two core directions, attracting 95 experts from 19 universities and institutions to apply, ultimately resulting in six winning teams. The forum also announced the two directions and four major challenges for the sixth edition, which are novel media technologies for the AI era and an Agentic AI-native data infrastructure.
