On August 9, the Financial Times reported that the US Department of Commerce had commenced issuing export licenses for Nvidia's H20 chips to China, following a meeting between Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang and President Trump at the White House. Prior to this meeting, no such licenses had been issued for several weeks. While Nvidia had previously announced receiving assurances from the US government regarding the issuance of a license to sell H20 chips to China, the process had been delayed due to internal turmoil within the approval agency. Furthermore, concerns over security had led relevant Chinese departments to summon Nvidia regarding its H20 chips.
