Eddie Yue, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), has disclosed that as of mid-July 2025, a total of 22 banks have been authorized to offer digital asset-related products, with 13 of these banks permitted to sell tokenized securities and 5 providing digital asset custody services. During the first six months of 2025, these banks reported a total transaction volume of HK$26.1 billion for digital assets and tokenized assets, marking a staggering 233% increase from the same period last year and surpassing the entire annual total for the previous year. Additionally, several asset management firms are in the process of launching tokenized products, while the government is actively fostering the issuance of tokenized bonds.
