On July 18, Xie Cun, Director of the Information and Communication Development Department at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), revealed plans to further drive the high-quality development of the information and communication industry by harmonizing "construction, application, and research" initiatives. In network construction, MIIT aims to enhance the extensive and intensive coverage of 5G and gigabit optical networks, expedite pilot deployments of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and 10G optical networks, and bolster the "signal upgrade" campaign to forge an integrated national computing power network. Regarding application advancement, MIIT will implement the upgraded "Sailing" initiative for large-scale 5G applications, the revamped "5G+Industrial Internet" 512 project, and a three-year action plan for identifier "connectivity," fostering collaborative applications between the industrial internet and artificial intelligence. In technological innovation, MIIT vows to expedite the expansion of the 5G-A product suite, facilitate the deployment of high-quality networks, and accelerate research and development (R&D) of 6G technology, adopting a forward-looking approach to cultivate the 6G application industry ecosystem. Furthermore, MIIT will explore and implement open policies, methodically open up value-added telecommunication services, refine service management, and entice more foreign-invested enterprises to engage in pilot projects.
