SK On Secures Lithium Hydroxide Supply in Korea for US Battery Manufacturing Facility

SK On, a battery manufacturer belonging to South Korea's SK Group, has inked a deal with EcoPro Innovation, a Korean metal refining firm, for the supply of lithium hydroxide. The agreement outlines plans to source up to 6,000 tons of domestically produced lithium hydroxide by the end of this year. This critical material will be utilized in the production process at SK On's battery plant in the United States, which is capable of fulfilling the battery requirements for approximately 100,000 electric vehicles. Prior to exportation to the US, the materials will undergo processing in South Korea. Additionally, the two parties aim to finalize a further multi-year supply agreement covering the next two to three years within this calendar year.
