A research team headed by Professors Ni Yong and He Linghui from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), in partnership with fellow researchers, has unveiled the intricate mechanisms governing coordinated ion and electron transport and reactions within a gradient thick-electrode system. The team has meticulously crafted a multi-gradient microstructure for thick electrodes, aiming to optimize transport and reaction kinetics. This design not only bolsters the rapid charging capacity but also enhances the mechanical stability of the thick electrode, offering a comprehensive theoretical framework for developing high-rate, damage-resistant batteries.
