Chinese scientist Wang Xiaoyun has been bestowed the prestigious 2025 L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science award for her pioneering contributions to cryptography, significantly advancing the development of novel hash function standards. Joining her as honorees are four other exceptional women from South Africa, Germany, Argentina, and the United States, whose research spans diverse fields including data security, green energy, and air pollution mitigation. Established in 1998 by UNESCO and the L'Oréal Foundation, this annual accolade recognizes five women for their remarkable achievements in cutting-edge scientific research. The award ceremony, set to celebrate these remarkable achievements, will be held in Paris on June 12.
