A team led by Professor Wu Huaming at Tianjin University has achieved significant advancements in the realm of DNA storage, introducing the groundbreaking HELIX system tailored for biomedical data storage. Comprising three core components—image compression, error correction coding, and restoration—this system leverages advanced algorithms and deep learning methodologies to substantially enhance fault tolerance and decoding success rates. Experimental results demonstrate the system's prowess, as the team successfully encoded 60MB of spatiotemporal omics images into DNA sequences and accurately restored them, thereby affirming its efficiency and reliability. This pioneering achievement paves the way for the practical deployment of DNA storage technology.
