On May 13, the photovoltaic sector, particularly the silicon material segment, witnessed substantial gains in China's A-share market. Market whispers hinted at a potential link to manufacturers' "stockpiling" of silicon materials. However, upon seeking clarification from key industry players, both interviewed executives and investor relations representatives confirmed that they were unaware of any "stockpiling" initiatives and were uncertain about the genesis of these rumors. Despite this, all interviewees concurred on the current tight supply-demand dynamics within the silicon material sector. Some leading enterprises reported capacity utilization rates hovering between 20% and 30%, while others noted rates slightly above 30%. The general manager of one of China's six major silicon material manufacturers emphasized the need for industry-wide collaboration to address excess inventory.
