A research collaboration led by Professor Zhang Labao from Nanjing University's Academician Wu Peiheng's team, in partnership with Professor Ji Xiangyang's team from Tsinghua University's Department of Automation, has achieved a groundbreaking development: a camera that integrates sensing and computing, demonstrating exceptional photon utilization efficiency. Leveraging a multi-dimensional tunable superconducting single-photon detector (SNSPD), this camera attains a remarkable classification accuracy of over 90% for three-letter patterns, consuming an average of merely 0.12 photons per pixel. The groundbreaking findings have been featured in Nature Communications under the title "Photon-efficient Camera with In-Sensor Computing." PhD candidate Guan Yanqiu from Nanjing University serves as the lead author, with Professors Zhang Labao and Ji Xiangyang as co-corresponding authors.
