Global Payments, a leading payment processing company, is poised to acquire Cincinnati-based Worldpay for a whopping $22.7 billion. This strategic move aims to significantly enhance Global Payments' global footprint. The acquisition will be funded through a combination of cash and stock, and includes a concurrent agreement to sell Global Payments' card issuing solutions division to Fidelity National Information Services. Upon successful completion of the deal, Global Payments will process approximately 94 billion transactions worth $3.7 trillion, spanning over 175 countries worldwide.
