On February 10, Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yoshimasa Hayashi, disclosed that Nippon Steel is devising a bold plan to acquire US Steel. Hayashi emphasized that this proposal is anticipated to bring mutual benefits to both Japan and the United States. Prior to this, it was reported that during his visit to the United States, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba presented President Trump with a revised plan, which involved a substantial investment rather than an outright acquisition. Under the revised plan, Nippon Steel will invest in the United States, allowing US Steel to retain its status as an American company. Nippon Steel will share its advanced technology with US Steel, enabling the production of higher-quality products within the United States.
