NVIDIA's newly introduced GeForce RTX 5090, 5090D, and 5080 graphics cards are encountering significant problems with black screens and bricking. A substantial number of users have reported that upon installing the drivers, the GPUs either fail to display images correctly or are completely unrecognized by the motherboard BIOS. Media reports suggest that these issues may be tied to the 572.16 GPU driver version or the PCIe 5.0 lanes. NVIDIA has acknowledged the problems with the RTX 50 series GPUs and is currently conducting a thorough investigation. These faults manifest across a variety of usage scenarios, such as adjusting display resolutions, playing resource-intensive games, and using multi-monitor setups. Some users have reported that after experiencing a black screen and restarting their systems, the GPU is no longer recognized at all. Despite some users temporarily resolving the issue by moving the GPU from a PCIe 5.0 slot to a PCIe 4.0 slot, the black screen problem recurs periodically. To date, NVIDIA has not released specific failure rate data or an estimated timeline for resolving these issues.
