TSMC intends to establish an ultra-large wafer fab, known as a Giga-Fab, equipped with the cutting-edge 1nm process technology in Nansha Lun. This facility is envisioned to house six 12-inch fabs, with the objective of bolstering the collaboration within the advanced process production cluster at the Southern Taiwan Science Park. Positioned strategically, the site borders Chiayi to the north and links to science parks in Kaohsiung and Pingtung to the south, making it the linchpin investment of the "Great Southern New Silicon Valley Promotion Plan." TSMC emphasized that the selection of this location involves a thorough evaluation of various factors, and as Taiwan remains its primary base, all viable options are being carefully considered.
