NVIDIA's DLSS 4 introduces a groundbreaking Transformer large model alongside MFG (Multi-Frame Generation) technology. The MFG technology enhances each image frame by generating an additional three frames, and when combined with super-resolution technology, it can boost the frame rate by an impressive factor of up to eight. Currently, however, this advanced technology is exclusively supported by RTX 50 series graphics cards. In parallel, NVIDIA has unveiled Smooth Motion, a novel AI-driven frame generation technology embedded at the driver level. Smooth Motion doubles the frame rate by inserting AI-inferred frames between existing ones. This technology seamlessly integrates with nearly all DX11 and DX12 games, eliminating the need for game-specific DLSS adaptations. While its image quality and frame rate performance are considered average, Smooth Motion's broad compatibility makes it a versatile addition. Currently, Smooth Motion is available for RTX 50 series graphics cards, and NVIDIA has officially announced plans to extend this technology to RTX 40 series graphics cards in the near future.
