Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) has filed a lawsuit against US-based energy storage system integrator Powin, alleging a breach of contract in which Powin has failed to pay a sum of RMB 300 million. CATL has initiated arbitration proceedings with the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and submitted documentation to the Oregon Circuit Court in the United States in December 2022 to bring the matter to light. According to reports, CATL sent Powin an email in April 2023, detailing the overdue payments. Powin, a renowned energy storage system integrator ranked third in the US market, is being demanded by CATL to settle the outstanding amount. Additionally, CATL has applied for the seizure of Powin's local assets amidst concerns of potential asset transfer.
