Silicon Motion is currently in the throes of developing the SM8466, a PCIe 6.0 SSD controller chip that leverages advanced 4nm process technology. Drawing from Silicon Motion's established naming convention—which includes SM8266 and SM8366 for PCIe 4.0 and 5.0 enterprise-class SSD controllers, respectively—it is plausible to assume that the SM8466 will also cater to the enterprise sector. According to reports, the SM8466 will comprehensively support PCIe 6.0 x4 lanes, boasting a theoretical bandwidth of up to 30.25 GB/s, effectively doubling the bandwidth compared to SSDs equipped with PCIe 5.0 x4 interfaces.
