BelGaN, Belgium's final remaining industrial chip manufacturer, has unfortunately filed for bankruptcy, potentially leading to the unemployment of 440 employees. The bankruptcy auction, which garnered over €23 million, attracted numerous bidders, including Chinese companies. BelGaN had endeavored to shift from silicon chip technology to gallium nitride (GaN) chip technology but struggled to secure the necessary financing due to funding shortages and the substantial investments required for the transition. Consequently, the company was forced to declare bankruptcy in August 2024.
